Family Tree Roofing repairs, replaces and inspects roofs across Tulsa — the older neighborhoods around Midtown and downtown, the subdivisions of south and east Tulsa, and the homes north and west of the river in between. Our office is in Bixby, about 11 miles from downtown, so a Tulsa inspection is a short drive for us. Every project starts the same way: a free roof inspection, with photos you can see for yourself, and a straight answer about whether you need a repair or a replacement.

Repair or replacement? Tulsa roofs tell different stories

Tulsa grew in waves, and its roofs show it. Many homes in Midtown and near downtown date from the early and mid-1900s: steeper pitches, several valleys, dormers and brick chimneys. On those roofs, flashing is where trouble usually starts, repairs are done by hand rather than by the square, and it is common to find more than one layer of shingles that has to come off before a new roof goes on. Neighborhoods built from the 1970s onward across south and east Tulsa tend to have larger, simpler roof planes, where attic ventilation and the original roof’s age matter most — many of those first roofs are at or past the end of their service life. Newer additions on the edges of the city usually have HOA shingle requirements we build around.

Wherever you are in Tulsa, we inspect the same way — the whole roof system, not just the shingles — and we plan the work for the roof in front of us. If a repair will solve the problem, that is what we recommend. If replacement makes more sense, we explain why, show you the photos, and walk you through shingle options and pricing without pressure.

One installation standard, old house or new

We believe in installing roofing systems, not just roofs, whether it is a Midtown bungalow or a south Tulsa ranch on its first replacement. Every layer comes off down to the bare decking, damaged or unsuitable boards are replaced, and ice-and-water shield goes into the valleys. Where the roof meets a wall we strongly prefer new step flashing, which on older homes can mean some siding or paint work, and we calculate the attic ventilation on every estimate.

Kevin, our project manager, runs our jobs on site and photographs the work; when jobs overlap, he coordinates supervision with our project consultants.

Our workmanship warranty

You get the manufacturer warranties, plus our lifetime labor and workmanship warranty on qualifying roofing systems installed to our full standards. It covers the work we perform, including pipe penetrations, valleys and flashing; a component you decide not to replace, such as existing step flashing, is not covered. Your inspector goes through the written warranty with you before you sign.

Storm damage in Tulsa: what the record shows

Tulsa roofs have been through a lot recently, and the National Weather Service keeps the record. On June 17, 2023, thunderstorm winds were measured at 100 mph near East 31st Street and South Peoria Avenue, and the storm caused at least $160 million in damage across Tulsa County, with roofs of homes and businesses damaged around the city. On May 21, 2024, golf-ball-size hail (1.75 inches) fell in Tulsa, with larger stones in parts of the metro. And on August 6, 2017, an EF2 tornado tracked nearly seven miles from east of South Harvard Avenue toward Sheridan Road and Highway 169, tearing roofs off businesses and damaging homes along the way.

Hail bruises and wind-lifted shingles are often impossible to see from the ground, and they leak long before they look bad. If your roof went through one of these storms — or the next one — a free inspection tells you whether the roof is actually damaged. We document what we find with photos, and we will tell you honestly when you do not have a problem.

Insurance claims after a Tulsa storm

If a storm has damaged your roof, we photograph and document the damage, write a complete estimate and walk you through what we found. The photos and estimate come to you as a documentation package you can hand to your insurance company yourself if you decide to file. The claim stays yours: we do not file it, interpret your policy or predict what will be approved, and we never pay or waive deductibles. Read more about roof insurance claim help.

Permits and codes in Tulsa

The City of Tulsa currently builds to the 2018 International codes, with the 2024 codes scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. The city’s permit pages do not spell out a rule for shingle-only re-roofs, so we confirm the current requirement with the Development Services Permit Center at (918) 596-9456 before work starts, and we handle any permit that is required. One thing Oklahoma does not require: ice-barrier underlayment is not mandated by the state code, so when we recommend it in a valley or at an eave, it is because your roof needs it — not because a rule says so.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge for roof inspections in Tulsa?

No. Inspections are free for homeowners, with no obligation, and you get the photos we take.

How soon can you tarp a leaking roof?

We do not promise a time, because it depends on the weather, crew availability and what is happening on the roof. Family Tree Roofing offers Sunday roof inspections, repairs, and scheduling. When needed, we may also arrange emergency roof tarping or roof replacements on Sundays, depending on crew availability and the situation. Call 918-703-3735 to discuss your needs.

Do you work with my insurance company?

We inspect and photograph the damage and give you the photos and our estimate to share with your insurer yourself. Your insurance company decides what is covered, and we never pay or waive deductibles.

Which parts of Tulsa do you serve?

All of them — Midtown, downtown, and north, east, west and south Tulsa — along with the surrounding communities listed on our service areas page. If you are nearby but do not see your town, call us and we will tell you straight away.

Can I work with the same project consultant again?

Yes, when they are available. If you have worked with one of our project consultants before, tell our office when you request your inspection (918-703-3735) and we will arrange it with that person whenever their schedule allows. Your inspection is confirmed only once we have agreed a date and time with you.
